چکیده
H+ modulated charge-transfer in photoexcited covalently linked W and Mo Keggin-bodipy conjugates is demonstrated using transient absorption spectroscopy photoluminescence. Adding acid switches on (W) or accelerates (Mo) charge separation.

Molecular approaches to solar energy conversion: the energetic cost of charge separation from molecular-excited states.
This review starts with a brief overview of the technological potential of molecular-based solar cell technologies. It then goes on to focus on the core scientific challenge associated with using molecular light-absorbing materials for solar energy conversion, namely the separation of short-lived, molecular-excited states into sufficiently long-lived, energetic, separated charges capable of gen...
متن کاملAccumulative charge separation for solar fuels production: coupling light-induced single electron transfer to multielectron catalysis.
The conversion and storage of solar energy into a fuel holds promise to provide a significant part of the future renewable energy demand of our societies. Solar energy technologies today generate heat or electricity, while the large majority of our energy is used in the form of fuels. Direct conversion of solar energy to a fuel would satisfy our needs for storable energy on a large scale. Solar...
متن کاملDriving charge separation for hybrid solar cells: photo-induced hole transfer in conjugated copolymer and semiconductor nanoparticle assemblies.
This work reports on the use of an internal electrostatic field to facilitate charge separation at inorganic-organic interfaces, analogous to those in hybrid solar cells. Systematic charge transfer studies show that the donor-acceptor charge transfer rate is highly sensitive to the direction of the internal electric field.
متن کاملConversion of light-energy into molecular strain in the photocycle of the photoactive yellow protein.
The Photoactive Yellow Protein (PYP) is a light-driven photoreceptor, responsible for the phototaxis of halophilic bacteria. Recently, a new short-lived intermediate (pR0) was characterized in the PYP photocycle using combined time-resolved X-ray crystallography and density functional theory calculations. The pR0 species was identified as a highly contorted cis-intermediate, which is stabilized...
متن کاملImproved Separation and Collection of Charge Carriers in Micro-Pyramidal-Structured Silicon/PEDOT:PSS Hybrid Solar Cells
Silicon (Si)/organic polymer hybrid solar cells have great potential for becoming cost-effective and efficient energy-harvesting devices. We report herein on the effects of polymer coverage and the rear electrode on the device performance of Si/poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene): poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) hybrid solar cells with micro-pyramidal structures. These hybrid solar cells provid...
